A dream weekend for a lover of traditional upholst A dream weekend for a lover of traditional upholstery. Learning, exploring, and being inspired.What a weekend! I had the most amazing time on a Guild of Traditional Upholsterers weekend, starting with an exclusive tour of the stunning Hatfield House, specially opened for us. Dermot gave a fantastic insight into the house’s history and treasures. The tapestries and drapes were absolutely breathtaking.On Sunday, we spent the day at St Albans Upholstery School with Heather Porter, a true master in upholstery conservation. Heather was a fountain of knowledge, sharing fascinating techniques on how to preserve historic upholstery with minimal damage to the woodwork.We even made our own little conservation models to practice the methods.Huge thanks to Heather, the Guild, and St Albans Upholstery School for such an inspiring and enriching weekend. I am feeling even more passionate about the craft and its preservation.(I will be sharing a few moments from the trip in the Reel.
